The purpose of a Level 2 checkout is to demonstrate that a rower can confidently and safely handle equipment on and off the water in addition to their ability to responsibly conduct themselves as a recreational rower.
Coaches will take into account the rower’s judgement and ability to act safely on and off the water as well as their general attitude toward the sport and other members.
A member checked out for Level 2 sculling can expect to continue participating with coached programs and to take out shells for recreation. Level 2 scullers can row at their leisure and on their own schedule, but are encouraged to row in doubles and small groups.
Members with recreational intentions need NOT pursue a Level 3 checkout.
