MAINTENANCE  VOLUNTEERING

The club is a volunteer organization, thus it takes a helping hand from everyone to ensure that all members can happily pursue their rowing aspirations.  Specifically, every member is expected to contribute eight 'maintenance hours' each year.  These hours can be worked off during work parties (see the respective announcements) or by fulfilling various tasks that support the club's activities.  If you see something around the club that needs attention, and you would like to volunteer to get it done, please contact facilities@atlantarow.org or any board member to set this up.

Let us know of the hours you worked by contacting volunteerhours@atlantarow.org.  A log of hours contributed can be reviewed - please let us know if we are missing something.  Members who cannot contribute these eight hours will be charged a 'maintenance fee' of $100.

(The way this works is that members are billed $100 as a 'maintenance fee' at the beginning of the year, and if they work these eight hours off during the year, they will get a credit for those hours with the next bill in the following year).

The club also organizes (together with the Lookout RC) the annual 'Head of the Hooch' regatta on the first weekend in November in Chattanooga, TN.  This is the club's main fund raiser, and each member is required to help running this second largest regatta in the country by contributing at least six 'Hooch volunteer hours'.  For every hour a member falls short of this requirement, (s)he owes the club $10 to help defer some of the costs of hiring outside help instead.

For more details about Hooch Volunteering check out the respective webpage.  The complete information on the regatta can be found on our separate Hooch website.

The club depends on its members to volunteer time in order to fulfill the various tasks it takes to run the club.  Elections for the five officers' positions are held every January, and these officers then appoint the chairs who head the special function committees.  Please consider either running for an office or helping on one of the committees  -  and if becoming a board member is not your cup of tea, simply helping out conducting some tasks on one of the committees is greatly appreciated.  We need your help to make rowing in our club a happy experience for everyone.

We organize occasional WORK PARTIES to get some of these jobs done  -  please pay attention to these announcements, and help us out whenever you can.
