Rowing at high speeds through narrow passage ways or in high traffic areas can result in collisions. It is important to remember to slow down in the areas outlined below to avoid disaster!
Move at slow speed by the docks and to the downstream end of the park. Shells will be launching and docking, and traffic may contain inexperienced canoes, kayaks and fishing boats. Also, because the river constricts just after the fishing pier, we call this area the “Narrows.” Please proceed with caution through this area as many crews can come speeding around the corner before you can see them. Inexperienced rowers should be sure to stay to the starboard side of the river to provide other rowers clear leeway through the channel.
