Atlanta Rowing Club
Sponsorships
Each year, the club sponsors a few new members who come from a high school or college rowing background.
OBJECTIVE
To encourage young adults to join the club in order to help build future ARC leadership and to bring more competitive open category rowers into the club.
SPONSORSHIP
This sponsorship covers the initiation fee to join ARC and the membership dues for the remainder of the first year, plus the full next year period (18 months total). The sponsored members must work off the required maintenance (8hrs) and Hooch (6hrs) hours for each year. Full sponsorship value is $750. Upon completion of the 18 month sponsorship, candidates are fully initiated into ARC and will be expected to pay regular annual dues.
ELIGIBILITY
The sponsorship is available to young adults who have rowed competitively in college or equivalent, are younger than 30 years of age, and who are interested in continuing competitive rowing. All successful applicants are expected to participate in coaching programs at ARC.
APPLICATION
The applicants for this program are asked to provide an essay on 'what it means to them to row', a listing of their accomplishments as a rower, demonstration of financial need and a letter of recommendation. The applicationmust be submitted to the ARC Selection Committee by April 1 of each year.
SELECTION
The selection committee consists of Scott Weiss (donor) and three ARC board members. Candidates are selected and advised by May 1 of each year, following approval by the ARC board.
