 Frequently Asked Questions

What do we do with used plastic water bottles and soft drink can? we recycle plastic and aluminum  -  please place discards in the respective bins, in the lower and the upper boathouse;  Roswell's service will pick them up regularly 
Where do we go with garbage? garbage is regularly picked up by the city  -  place it in the containers in the lower and upper boathouse
Which boats can I use? first of all, only row boats that carry the ARC logo -  -  the others are private boats;
secondly, only row boats for which your sculling level qualifies you;  for crews, this means that at least 50% of the rowers scull on that level;

Which oars can I use? the club sculling oars are located in the lower boathouse, at the wall between the garage door and the office door   
Who can use the launches? to be sure, check with a coach
Where are the keys? the keys to the bathrooms (two of them) are hanging on hooks from the counter  -  please don't forget to put them back;  the same key also opens the door to the shed (the "garage") 
How do I reserve a boat? The boat reservation books are on the counter in the lower boat house. Boats can be reserved up to one week in advance for a maximum of 1 1/2 hours.
What does cleaning a boat mean? Wash the outside with soap & hose off where possible. Dry with towel. Wipe inside with a towel, making sure to clean the tracks. Open all vent caps and place the boat in it's rack.

How do I report damage to equipment? send an email to the equipment chair (and hang an 'out of service' sign onto the shell if it is not rowable. Also note the name of the out of service boat on the blackboard in the lower boathouse.

What are my volunteer responsibilities? We expect you to contribute to our maintenance volunteering as well as to our fund raising effort at the Head of the Hooch. 
How is my sculling skill level determined? review these check-out procedures 
What coaching programs are available? We offer team coaching for competitive, semi-competitive and recreational aspirations, as well as on-demand sculling coaching for individuals and crews.
Can I row with a guest? Members in good standing may host guests.  Guests must be experienced rowers with the appropriate skill level, are permitted three rows only per year and must sign a waiver form which is available in a file in the lower boat house.
